# Kimberly Clark #47117 manufacturer site: [Kimberly Clark 47117](https://www.kcprofessional.com/en-us/products/scientific/respiratory-protection/47117) - not recommended for blood or blodily fluid protection Three layer mask (inside layer --> outside layer) - the outer layers look like some sort of pressed pulp, not as fibrous and stringy as the N95 masks - the middle layer looks more like the N95 mask outer layer, except with smaller fiber width ## physical measurements #### thickness (mm pm 0.005) measurements: - overall: 0.184 - inside layer: 0.072 - middle layer: 0.086 - outside layer: 0.069 #### weight (10(pm 0.5) x10(pm 0.5) mm square material) measured in g pm 0.0005 - overall: 0.0067 - inside layer: 0.0023 - middle layer: 0.0021 - outside layer: 0.0026 ## imaging ### SEM When imaging in the SEM without sputter coating the material you disappear if focus too closely (either blowing away or disintegrating from the electron beam - hopefully this isn't damaging the SEM??) the same way that the dust particles on the Gerson N95 did. So all images have a 20 nm gold layer on top #### inside layer #### middle layer this looks to be the layer doing the most filtration #### outside layer same as inside layer progressively zooming in on the same spot: ### Optical checking for burn marks or any deformation on the sample that was put in the SEM without sputter coating .. couldn't find anything
