ventilator scaling
I just got off a call with @bill.truschel's colleagues @cory.resler, @William.kittridge, @jeff.hirsch, and @david.daum at Philips. They're ramping up to an ambitious target of producing ~1000 ventilators a day, ~1M in a year.
What's rate-limiting for them isn't the ventilator production, it's the lack of access to, and capacity in, the supply chain for parts that go around the ventilators. This includes things we've discussed, including PPE and inline filters, and ones we haven't, like gas manifolds.
I'm starting this issue to start tackling these; once we validate prototypes we can then look at unused existing industrial capacity, vs rapid automation for new capacity, vs local production for global scaling. I'll ask them to fill in more on what's needed.
