Serial connection on Ubuntu (Raspberry Pi) fails with
Hi @jakeread, I'm seeing a frontend crash with the serialport connector hunk on the Raspberry Pi (roughly Debian/Ubuntu).
From serialport.js
:
msg.data.arrayBuffer is not a function
(at recv
)
Full error (sorry for photo-screenshot, posting from laptop):
Things I've tried so far:
- Updating our fork with the latest from Upstream and re-running - did not help (same issue)
- Re-installing node_modules using versions from our fork's package.json (serialport 8.0.5)
Other info:
- It works fine on my Mac laptop (same steps, same setup)
- npm
serialport
version:8.0.5
(same exact version that works on my Mac) - Node version:
v8.9.0
— actually, my Mac isv10.16.3
, so going to try a higher node version next! (Update: doesn't seem to be culprit) - @zfredin previously ran this OK on his Ubuntu machine, so don't think it's a linux vs other OS issue
- Browser: Chromium 74.0.3729 (I will also try Firefox / Chrome?)
- It seems to be choosing the correct serial port:
Any idea of something else to try?
I'll be working from the shop the next couple of hours at least if you want to take a look.
